2012 poland
EURO 2012 is Europe’s most important and prestigious football tournament and one of world’s most significant international sporting events. Millions will attend the matches and billions will watch them on TV.
Though football is the main event; the vibrancy, excitement and joy Poland is set to experience will not only result from what takes place inside its stadiums. For one month in 2012, Poland’s restaurants and hotels will be filled to capacity; its bars and clubs will overflow with crowds of partygoers full of contagious energy; and its streets, parks and plazas will teem with elated fans from across the country and around the world. While championship level competition will assure the event’s success, the triumph of Euro 2102 will also largely be reflected in what takes place away from the football fields.
Of course, against any potential benefits of hosting such large scale events there are likely to be a series of health and safety considerations, which can include risks sometimes associated with alcohol use, drug use and sexual activity.
To address these considerations,SafeGames Poland will launch a public health and safety campaign built around the message of “Celebrate Safely. Celebrate Responsibly.”
SafeGames Poland is a collaborative effort by Poland’s premier public health and safety providers and SafeGames Inc. Scheduled to run parallel to EURO 2012 in the cities of Warsaw, Poznań, Gdańsk and Wodaw, SafeGames Poland staff and volunteers will work together to promote individual health and safety for the duration of the championship.
SafeGames Poland efforts will incude sexual health promotion, drug and alcohol education, public safety, and targeted awareness campaigns spotlighting violence against women and human trafficking. SafeGames Poland strategies include outreach, social marketing and social networking.
Please note that this website is still under development and is scheduled to be formally launched in January of 2012. safegamespoland.com will be the virtual home of SafeGames Poland, serving as a portal to the sites and services of our partners and sponsors, and as an on-line magazine and catalogue of SafeGames Poland resources, strategies and features.
